WHO ARE WE?


sxsocialwalrus first came to be in 2010 as a Hyde Park house show with mainly friends' bands playing together and a big group day party complete with burgers and beer. In 2011 we began to seek out national & international acts to enhance the experience further. 

The walrus came back with a vengeance on the eastside in 2012-- including veteran sxsocialwalrus bands as well as several new additions. The walrus took a break in 2013 due to some neighborhood issues. 

We're relocating again in 2014, remaining in East Austin, but even more central in the Holly/Cesar Chavez neighborhood. We're looking to expand our lineup to include a variety of new bands and genres and anticipate this year's sxsocialwalrus to be the best yet!

Who are the curators of sxsocialwalrus, you ask? Oh, we're just some Austin social workers who love music and a good dance party.
